Funding & Resources

The grant application process for 2027 is now open!

Every year, United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern N.B. opens our funding process to eligible charitable organizations across the region. We invest in meaningful action that makes a difference on the issues that matter to people in the community. This is reflected in our commitment to ongoing evaluation and learning.

It is also reflected in United Way’s efforts to collaborate closely with government and other funders; to raise awareness; and to advocate for systemic changes. Our funding process opens annually in late spring/early summer; applications are reviewed by staff over the summer and in the fall, our Community Investment Committee begins evaluations.

They make their recommendations to the United Way of GMSENB’s Board of Directors in November/December for funding in the new year.

Agencies in SENB please note:

Over the past two years, our United Way has shifted to an investment
strategy that includes long-term funding commitments (5 years at a time) to 4 Strategic Partners and 9
Anchor Partners who align with our strategic priorities and the impact we are committed to achieving.
This has resulted in limited funds being available for Open, one-year applications: in 2026, we are
investing in only three such agencies.

Agencies in Miramichi please note:

We are funding three agencies in 2026. The amount of funds available to
applying agencies is directly related to the amounts of funds that we raise in the Miramichi region.

Two Funding Streams

We have recently revised our Grant process, and have one open funding stream with two categories based on requested amount:

For specific programs or smaller-scale initiatives.

An agency applying for $20,000 and less is eligible to apply for a one-year grant. Reasons an agency may consider this funding opportunity can include, among others: it is a new program or request to United Way; organizational capacity deems a simpler application a more attractive choice; it represents an expansion to an existing program; it is a pilot program, and; it simply requires less funding to run. If you have questions about application fit for funding requests $20,000 and less, do not hesitate to contact ptoner@moncton.unitedway.ca

For established programs with significant community reach.

An agency applying for funding over $20,000 is eligible to apply for a one-year grant. It is important to check the correct box when asked for total funding request amount throughout the application to ensure all required questions and forms are visible for completion, and you are able to properly submit your application. If you are unsure whether your application should be a single year or multi-year request, do not hesitate to contact ptoner@moncton.unitedway.ca

Please pay attention throughout the application to the prompts and instructions related to whether the request is $20,000 or less or more than $20,000.

Strengthening our Community Fund

Applicants under this category have programs that relate to our United Way focus areas, or the agency’s core community work relates to the United Way’s priority areas and outcomes, and can clearly show the impact that their organization will have. The programs are aligned with the organization’s mission and mandate and the organization has the necessary resources, expertise, and processes to implement and evaluate the work. Again, applications can focus on a specific program or an agency’s core community work.
