Frequently Asked Questions

What does United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern NB do?

United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern NB does more than raise funds. We bring partners together to tackle complex issues like housing costs, homelessness, youth mental health, youth employment, and food insecurity. We work with local partners and community groups to identify needs, co-design and develop programs, and strengthen the systems that help people thrive. We link community efforts so people and youth have support for as long as they need it.
Every dollar stays local. Every action fuels lasting change. We also help raise funds so our partners can focus more on helping people.

  • 211 connects people to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • YOU Turns strategic coordinators walk beside youth at risk, helping them reconnect to school and community.
  • Peer Supported Housing with the Salvus Clinic gives people experiencing chronic homelessness a place to heal and rebuild.
  • Seniors’ Meal Program delivers more than 1000 meals a week to more than 280 low-income seniors, many living alone or unable to cook, for only one dollar per meal.
  • Integrated Youth Services Hub, for which United Way is the lead agency in our region, brings mental health, employment, peer support, and primary healthcare together under one roof.
  • United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick administers and supports Ayoba Moncton, an initiative designed to help newcomers and international students feel connected and welcomed.

By organizing events and supporting opportunities that bring people together, United Way helps strengthen social networks, encourage retention, and build a more connected and resilient Greater Moncton community.

Funds raised are invested in our Community Fund, which in turn fuels our agency partners and the programs they deliver across our region.

Your gift donated to our community fund stays local. Every dollar raised in our region supports local charities and programs serving youth, families, seniors, and individuals facing challenges throughout Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.

Through strong governance, independent financial oversight, volunteer leadership, and regular reporting, we work to ensure that donor dollars are managed responsibly and invested where they will have measurable impact in our community.

When you give through United Way, you strengthen multiple organizations at once. We raise the funds so our partners can focus less on fundraising and more on helping people. Your single donation supports a coordinated network of local services.

Your United way is trusted stewards of your dollars, we require partner agencies to report on the progress of their work to ensure your dollars have the greatest impact.

We focus on the most pressing needs in our community, including poverty, housing stability, food security, mental health supports, youth programming, and social inclusion.

Funding applications are reviewed by a Community Investment Committee made up of dedicated volunteers from across our region who have a vested interest in addressing pressing local needs. The committee carefully assesses impact, financial accountability, and alignment with community priorities. Their recommendations are then presented to the Board of Directors, who make the final funding decisions.
